FRENCH CAFE CHANGED TO WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10th!
The French Cafe has been changed to Wednesday, March 10th due to storm days. Parent-teacher interviews will be Monday morning, March 8th and Tuesday after school and evening, March 9th.
This means there is NO SCHOOL for students Monday, March 8th! ENJOY kiddos - have fun and I will see you Tuesday :)

Good Morning Math!
Good morning grade 5! Welcome to another edition of Good Morning Math! Here are your instructions:
Please click on the following hyperlink: http://cemc2.math.uwaterloo.ca/mathfrog/english/kidz/Games5.shtml
After opening the site, scroll down the page until you see "Naming Decimals" (the one with the alien)!
Click on "play the game", play and have fun!
When you are finished with this game, go back to the original website. Scroll up and click on "Change Maker - Play the Game". Choose your level and country and play. You will need a scrap piece of paper for this one. It may be a challenge - but that's a good thing! Have fun!
If you complete both games and want to move on, click on the Math Arcade link at the top of the page. Click on "New the the Math Arcade" and follow the directions until you are playing the game.
Have fun and do your best! Remember, this is supposed to be fun, but it is also to practice our mad math skills! I want you be doing your best thinking during these activities, and remember everything we have learned about decimals so far :)

Ski Trip Tomorrow
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to update you on the ski trip scheduled for tomorrow. If school is cancelled there is no storm date planned for skiing. So hope for the best! However, if there is a one hour delay we do still plan on going. Hope this answers some questions!

Update!
For those of you who have been faithfully (and frustratingly I'm sure) checking this site I want to let you know a few things:
I have not been updating the site because I have been getting the students to write their homework in their agendas. We have had some parents requesting this, so I thought the whole class would benefit from re-developing this habit. If I am going to be reminding a few to use them, I might as well be reminding them all! I remind the students during the day, but if you are not seeing homework written down nightly you should speak with your child!
Also, I will not be at school this week until Thursday as there has been a death in my family. It is winter carnival week and there is a lot going on, so hopefully everything will go smoothly in my absence. I am checking daily to be sure everyone is well - and am not naive enough to think I am indispensible - the girls who will be in for me over the next few days will do a fine job!
Thanks for your patience and cooperation on the home-end of things.

L.A. - Finish graphic organizer
- Read or work on novel study
Math - Graphing Assignment Due Friday
Spelling - Test Unit 14 & S.W. Friday
S.S. - Read Heritage Fair outline and get it signed
NOTE: The date for the Heritage Fair has been set for Feb. 24, 2010. Every student in grades 4-8 will do a project. These projects will also be used as class projects, so the students will present their project to their class and receive a class mark for it. An outline went home with your children today from their Social Studies teacher Ms. Gallant.
ALSO, the grade 5 students are now excitedly working on the French Cafe. Ask them about it! They are in for a busy but exciting few months. They should also be writing in their agendas every night, so encourage them to show you what is going on!
